Commercial Sounds
What's the music from the new VO5 advert? Each month, Canvas Magazine's music experts dig deep to find the tunes behind the ads so you can stick them on your iPod.

New recruits arrive at an Army camp and join the military buzzcut queue. A female recruit slips a tub of VO5 into a guy’s hand and the barber abandons his clippers to create trendy styles. The soundtrack starts with an odd vocal intro then turns into a breaks-rich hip-hop track.
The Tune - Creator by Santogold
This track has been circulating since November, when it was leaked on the internet and has been receiving heavy play across the underground club scene, especially in the Middle East. Current single LES Artistes (not the French ‘les’ by the way) was actually the B-side of this release.
Santogold is the stage name of solo act Santi White a new artist heavily influenced by MIA – not only in sound but in fashion by the look of her eclectic and garish wardrobe. She has been labelled as one of Rolling Stone’s 10 Artists To Watch this year. The New Yorker is about to explode onto the UK scene, having already written with Lily Allen and Mark Ronson. She was even brought in by Bjork as a support act recently.
